Kickin' Kasian
11:16 PMSeafood and I aren't really a match made it heaven but they're such a heavy hype on these bib wearing, shrimp peeling, crab cracking restaurants that I just needed to try. Kickin' Kasian has been around for quite sometimes now and lies in the heart of Northridge, CA, just a couple blocks form Cal State University Northridge.
So we all know the famous Boiling Crab which in my opinion was kind of the original boiled in bag seafood restaurant. The only locations are across the hill in the city; therefore, having a restaurant that is similar to Boiling Crab in the valley is a huge plus.
My mother and I went in and were seated promptly. Got our orders in no problem. We ordered Kasian Fries and Sweet Potato medium spicy, 1 pound shrimp with lemon pepper sauce and 1/2 pound with 1/2 Andouille Sausage.
They got in our order and the food came out shortly.
So my thoughts:
The fries were alright it wasn't super flavorful but fun to munch on. I couldn't taste the sweet potato as much as I would like. ( You foodies know sweet potato has a pretty distinct SWEET taste)
But now on to the star of the show, THE SHRIMP.
Keep in mind that I'm not a huge fan of seafood and eating this wasn't going to be enjoyable for me but I got to say it was pretty good. It was very tasty but it didn't actually taste garlic-y it just tasted like chili sauce lathered into the bag. I also tasted my mom's and I couldn't really tell the difference between the sauce. My bag had a lemon in which was a bit weird but I mean maybe it was suppose to be there who knows. Also I have to say thumbs up on the size of the shrimp! It was medium size not too large but not too small. What was really yummy was the sausage! It was a bit salty but I mean all sausages are but with the sauce and ketchup YUM!
OVERALL RATING:
Food: 6/10- The food was good nothing too special and I think they put too much msg because you can't really taste anything in the end, they all taste the same fries, shrimp sausage.
Ambience: 10/10- It was very fun, eating on the table without plates and just drawing and being creative with the ketchup pretty new experience for me!
WOULD I RECOMEND:
Yes I would because you don't have to drive all the way to Downtown just to eat some Boiling Crab when you can just go and drive to Kickin' Kasian! Plus the total came out to 36 dollars for 4 items which is a pretty good price for seafood!
So hope you guys go and visit their restaurant and let me know what y'all think!
Bye for now
xoxo,
Ann
